Size Matters

This is from the Great Dane Trailer Company in Savannah, Georgia. I grabbed this picture while heading out of town after a weekend getaway. Great Danes are one of my favorite dog breeds and I am a huge fan of oversized statues at random places. Naturally I just had to stop and snap this pic.

There is not any real deep meaning here, but an awesome photo nonetheless. It just helps me to remember the great weekend getaway I took with a great friend right as life started to get crazy. I feel people should always notice their surroundings and take more pictures. I know many visitors to Savannah have seen this interesting statue but I wonder how many passed up the chance to investigate further.

Opposites Unite to Fight the Power

This picture is from a grave in New Orleans. I took the photo when I went down there during Spring Break 2009. I like the juxtaposition of an every day object (crayons) with a morbid rarity (the small animal bone). It is an uncomfortable marring of two different objects and is beautiful.

For me this photo gets at something deeper. It is an example of breaking the mold; an alternative approach to a life moment. It is not a normal grave and refuses to fit society's mold of how to express sorrow and a belief in an afterlife. Thus, I like it and respect its courage. Keep it up voodoo grave and voodoo followers.
